Applying Press-On Nails
To ensure a perfect application and long-lasting wear, follow these steps to apply your press-on nails:
-
Prepare Your Nails:
- Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any oils or dirt.
- Gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
- Lightly buff your natural nails to create a rough surface, helping the press-on nails adhere better.
- Wipe your nails with an alcohol wipe or nail polish remover to ensure they are clean and oil-free.
-
Select the Right Size:
- Choose the correct press-on nail size for each finger. The nails should cover your natural nail without extending onto the skin.
-
Apply Glue or Adhesive Tabs:
- If using glue, apply a small dot to your natural nail and another to the back of the press-on nail. Carefully spread the glue to cover the entire surface.
- If using adhesive tabs, peel off the backing and place the tab on your natural nail, then remove the top film.
-
Press and Hold:
- Align the press-on nail with your cuticle and gently press down from the base to the tip.
- Hold firmly for 10-15 seconds to ensure a secure bond.
- Repeat for each nail.
-
Final Touches:
- File or shape the press-on nails to your desired length and shape.
- Avoid exposing the nails to water for at least an hour after application to allow the glue to set properly.
Removing Press-On Nails
To remove press-on nails safely without damaging your natural nails, follow these steps:
-
Soak in Warm Water:
- Fill a bowl with warm, soapy water.
- Soak your nails for 10-15 minutes to soften the adhesive.
-
Gently Lift the Edges:
- Use a cuticle stick or a small nail file to gently lift the edges of the press-on nail.
- Work your way around the nail to loosen it.
-
Remove the Nail:
- Once the press-on nail is sufficiently loose, gently lift it off from the base to the tip.
- Avoid forcing or prying the nail, as this can damage your natural nail.
-
Clean and Moisturize:
- After removing the press-on nails, clean your natural nails to remove any residual glue or adhesive.
- Apply cuticle oil or a moisturizing hand cream to nourish your nails and cuticles.
-
Store or Dispose of Press-On Nails:
- If the press-on nails are reusable, clean them and store them in a safe place.
- If they are single-use, dispose of them properly.
