How to Apply or Remove Press-On Nails

Applying Press-On Nails

To ensure a perfect application and long-lasting wear, follow these steps to apply your press-on nails:

  1. Prepare Your Nails:

    • Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any oils or dirt.
    • Gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
    • Lightly buff your natural nails to create a rough surface, helping the press-on nails adhere better.
    • Wipe your nails with an alcohol wipe or nail polish remover to ensure they are clean and oil-free.
  2. Select the Right Size:

    • Choose the correct press-on nail size for each finger. The nails should cover your natural nail without extending onto the skin.
  3. Apply Glue or Adhesive Tabs:

    • If using glue, apply a small dot to your natural nail and another to the back of the press-on nail. Carefully spread the glue to cover the entire surface.
    • If using adhesive tabs, peel off the backing and place the tab on your natural nail, then remove the top film.
  4. Press and Hold:

    • Align the press-on nail with your cuticle and gently press down from the base to the tip.
    • Hold firmly for 10-15 seconds to ensure a secure bond.
    • Repeat for each nail.
  5. Final Touches:

    • File or shape the press-on nails to your desired length and shape.
    • Avoid exposing the nails to water for at least an hour after application to allow the glue to set properly.

Removing Press-On Nails

To remove press-on nails safely without damaging your natural nails, follow these steps:

  1. Soak in Warm Water:

    • Fill a bowl with warm, soapy water.
    • Soak your nails for 10-15 minutes to soften the adhesive.
  2. Gently Lift the Edges:

    • Use a cuticle stick or a small nail file to gently lift the edges of the press-on nail.
    • Work your way around the nail to loosen it.
  3. Remove the Nail:

    • Once the press-on nail is sufficiently loose, gently lift it off from the base to the tip.
    • Avoid forcing or prying the nail, as this can damage your natural nail.
  4. Clean and Moisturize:

    • After removing the press-on nails, clean your natural nails to remove any residual glue or adhesive.
    • Apply cuticle oil or a moisturizing hand cream to nourish your nails and cuticles.
  5. Store or Dispose of Press-On Nails:

    • If the press-on nails are reusable, clean them and store them in a safe place.
    • If they are single-use, dispose of them properly.
